Students & Admission
Who we work with
At Rhodes Wood Hospital School, we offer specialist education and learning opportunities for young people who have been admitted to the hospital. Each young person’s Local Authority (LA) commissions our provision, which requires the LA to agree to fund the fees for their placement. Should the LA decide not to commission our services, alternative arrangements will be made to continue the young person’s education elsewhere.
Family Involvement
We recognise the importance of family and caregivers in supporting our students’ educational journey. Many of the young people in our care are admitted from across the country or even beyond, so we place great emphasis on fostering strong partnerships through our Key Teacher system. This ensures close collaboration between all stakeholders involved in a young person’s care and education.
Parents and carers play a vital role in the growth and development of our young people, especially during the discharge process. Open and transparent communication is central to this process, and we actively encourage young people to share how they prefer to stay in touch. Additionally, we provide regular education reports for Care Planning Approach (CPA) meetings, which are led by the hospital.
We highly value your positive or constructive feedback as it helps us ensure that each child receives the best possible education while at the hospital. If there are any concerns, we have a clear and rigorous complaints procedure in place, and our policies are available for review. Please refer to our policies section for more details.
