Lakefields is a fully refurbished 22-bed neurological service for people with neurological and spinal conditions who require specialist rehabilitation following an Acquired Brain Injury (ABI), Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) or other neurological condition.  

The service specialises in ongoing assessment, treatment and rehabilitation, whilst providing complex physical, tracheostomy and respiratory care.  

The specialist Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) has a wealth of clinical experience. Personalised programmes with recognised outcomes will be designed with the individual and their families. The aim of the service is to maximise individual potential and enhance quality of life. 

The MDT led by the Registered Manager includes a Consultant in Rehabilitation Medicine, Registered Nurses, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Speech and Language Therapy, Healthcare and Therapy Assistants, a Dietician and links with specialist NHS respiratory teams. 

Admission Criteria  

• Men and women over 18 years 
• Informal or subject to DoLS 
• Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) or Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI)  
• Spinal Injury 
• Prolonged Disorders of Consciousness (PDOC) 
• Progressive Neurological Conditions (PNC). 

Respite referrals will be considered on an individual basis. 

The new service is within walking distance of Grange Hill underground station. Situated within the M25, close to London there are good transport links. The service is set in private grounds with garden or lake views from the bedrooms. The accommodation includes spacious ensuite bedrooms with access to individual patio areas, a multipurpose therapy suite and a sensory room.  The various indoor and outside recreational areas are designed to promote social interaction as well as providing quieter, low stimulus areas for those who prefer.
